Margaret Ann Street LUBBOCK-Margaret Street passed away on Oct. 20, 2016, in her home in Muleshoe, Texas. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A tribute of Margaret's life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family. Margaret was born on June 4, 1958, in Dimmitt, Texas, to the late Donald and Elizabeth Street. She graduated from Springlake-Earth High School as valedictorian of her class in 1976. She attended Texas Tech University graduating with a BS in math and physics in Dec. of 1979. She taught for nine years at Lubbock Cooper High School, resigning in the fall of 1990 to work at Texas Tech as a teaching assistant while acquiring a Master of Arts in Mathematics. In 1995, she moved to Odessa, Texas, to take a position teaching math at Odessa College. She continued her education through TTU while teaching. She received a PhD in Education in Aug. of 2000. Her favorite subjects to teach were Trig, Calculus and Physics. However, she also taught a variety of classes, including high school web classes for college credit. In Dec. of 2014, Margaret resigned from Odessa College due to declining health and moved to Muleshoe to be closer to her family. Margaret was a member of the Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Mathematical Association of America, Kappa Mu Epsilon (math honor society) and ARCS (Achievement Rewards for College Students). Margaret was also an associate member of Therapy Dogs International with a golden retriever, Baley, and held various offices in Permian Basin Obedience Training Club. She enjoyed traveling across Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, with her friends and their dogs, to compete in agility trials. Margaret loved her family, and she showed that love in many ways. From making time to drive to Muleshoe to help with her aging parents, to solving many tearful homework problems over the phone helping nieces beat that classroom deadline. Margaret was also ready to have a spirited debate with friends or family over almost any subject about which she felt strongly. Besides being tutor to the kids, Margaret was also the fun aunt to her six nieces and one nephew; often times bringing them to her home to have fun times slip-n-sliding, camping out in the back yard and having epic Lego building workshops. Margaret is survived by her loving siblings, Donna Beth Edwards and husband Robert, Evelyn Ruth Locker and husband, Fred, and William Blanton Street; seven nieces and nephews, Kathryn Kitten and husband, Jeremy, John Edwards, Kristen Ivy and husband, Matt, Lauren Terrell and husband, Clete, Amy Thane and husband, Dustin, Stacy Armstrong and husband, Chad, Mindy Ash and husband, Brady; and 13 great-nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tranquility Base Rescue Sanctuary (a rescue for senior dogs), P.O. Box 13, Cloudcroft, NM 88317; Cavalier Rescue Trust, online at cavalierrescuetrust.org, or by mail ACKCS Rescue Trust, 6000 High Bluff Court, Raleigh, NC 27612; or Cal Farley's Boys' Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101.
