Maralyn Bartlett, 80MUNCIE - Maralyn Bartlett, 80, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016, at her home following an extended illness.She was born on January 11, 1936 in Muncie, the daughter of Oliver and Iris (Stewart) Kirkman.Maralyn is a 1953 graduate of Muncie Central High School and attended Ball State University majoring in elementary education. Maralyn retired from the Indiana Bell Telephone Company which later became AT&T. She then became a tutor for the Muncie Community Schools. It was while she worked for the school system that she was afforded the opportunity to do her "dream job" which was working with and loving children as a professional nanny throughout Delaware County serving in that capacity for twenty-one years before she officially retired. Maralyn had been a member of the Avondale United Methodist Church, the Pioneer organization made up of Bell Telephone employees, "The Bell girls," Bell Telephone's women's sorority and the Delta Chi Sigma Sorority.Survivors include one daughter, Jodell Bartlett, Muncie; a special child, "her angel" Grace Denney, Westfield; one sister, Judy Blanton, Muncie; two sisters-in-law, Becky and Carol Kirkman, both of Muncie; special friend, Bill Creuziger, Fishers; several nieces and nephews, Jan, Mark and Jo Ellison, Bob and Kenny Kirkman, Shelley Sechrest (Chuck), Eric (Jodie) and Mindy Kirkman, Todd (Deb) Kirkman, Mike, Dondi, Wray, Debbie, Randy and Mark Blanton.She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Janice Ellison; three brothers, Robert, William and Richard Kirkman; and companion, Tom Conner.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Rod Eiler officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie.Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Monday evening, November 21, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until service time.Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of East Central Indiana, Inc.
