Manuel Osvaldo Seda Obituary

Oct 03, 1933 - Jan 27, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Seda, Dr. Manuel Osvaldo Dr. Manuel Osvaldo Seda, 83, of Phoenix, passed away on the morning of Thursday, July 27th in his home from a sudden cardiac arrest. His wife, Theresa Hiller, was by his side. Dr. Seda, as known as Mo or Manny to his friends, was born on October 2, 1933 in Caugus, Puerto Rico. He attended the Virginia Military Institute, and then earned his M.D. in Pediatric Medicine from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. After serving as a doctor for the United States Army in Fort Hood, Texas, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona to raise his growing family and to establish his own private practice at the Phoenix Memorial Hospital, where he faithfully served as a Pediatrician and Primary Care Physician for the predominantly Latino population of South and Central Phoenix. During his nearly 50 years of practice, Dr. Seda was a compassionate, caring, and generous fixture for this community, many of whom were new to the United States. He regularly worked extra hours and on Saturdays in order to serve families who could not take time off of work, and the children who were his patients during his early years of practice, would later bring their children, who would then bring their children. This was not only a testament to the trust he earned and individualized care he gave to his patients, but it was also due to the interest he took in their lives and the encouragement he gave them to persist in their pursuit of a college degree and beyond. Manny was an avid baseball fan and historian, loved to travel and collect Native American art, and cherished his role as a grandfather. Dr. Seda is survived by his wife Theresa and his daughter Stephanie and her spouse of Phoenix; his daughter Tanya and her spouse of Portland, OR; his son Michael and his spouse of Chicago; his son Jason and his spouse of Los Angeles; and his two sisters, Hilda and Toto of Puerto Rico His is also survived by his eight beautiful grandchildren. They are: Isabella, Aria, Roscoe, Lucy, Jack, Dharma, Alma and Bodhi. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2017 at Resthaven Carr-Tenney Mortuary from 5 to 8 pm with Funeral Mass the following day, Thursday, August 2 at 10 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathlic Church, 909 E.
