Mrs. Major Miriam Johnson 1922—2016PROMOTED TO GLORYOn November 20, 2016, Mrs. Major Miriam Johnson was Promoted to Glory. She was 94. Miriam was born on October 17, 1922, in Williamsburg, Iowa to Daniel and Alice Evans. She entered into the Salvation Army School for Officers Training in 1943. It was there she met, fell in love with and married Captain Frank Johnson on June 19, 1952, theirs was a true love story. Frank and Miriam served faithfully as Salvation Army officers until their retirement in 1992. Throughout her life, Miriam exemplified the love of Christ in thought, word, and deed. Miriam is survived by her devoted husband, Frank; her loving daughter, Beth; her five grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, Jeremy, Avery and Abby; and her 4 great-grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her daughter, Karla.The Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 3, at the Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, 500 S. Rockford Ave., Rockford, IL. Visitation will be prior to the funeral service from noon to 12:45 p.m. Memorials to Salvation Army Rockford Temple Corps, 500 S. Rockford Ave. Rockford, IL 61104.
