Mae Colleen Humke Householder, 88, of Warsaw, recently of Montrose Health Care Center in Montrose, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016. Mae Colleen Humke was born on her family farm east of Sutter on June 14, 1928. She was a daughter of Benjamin and Rosetta Kunz Humke. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Sutter. She attended Orange Grade School and graduated from Warsaw High School. Mae worked at the Grant Bettery Factory in Warsaw where she met Everett Householder. On June 26, 1947, she married Everett in Rushville. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1965. Mae also worked at Drydens Rubber in Keokuk, Iowa, and Montebello Nursing Home for 12 years. Mae was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Warsaw where she was church secretary for 21 years. She also served on many committees and was a deacon. Along with her church work, she had been president of the Senior Citizen group and also served as an election judge. She loved to work in her flower beds, go on rides in the country and crochet. She crocheted each grandchild a Christmas stocking. She loved spending time with her family. She also liked to tell people how many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren she had. Survivors include her children, Larry (Ginny) Householder of Quincy, Rosemary (Leonard) Boecker of Burlington, Iowa, Vickie (Kevin) Maag of Warsaw, Barbara (Rodney) LaBonte of Warsaw and Karen (Ed) Rude of Keokuk; and daughter-in-law, Karen Barber of Donnellson, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, Brad (Patti) Householder of Basco, Karessa (Daniel) Loos of Quincy, Jeff (Stephanie) Householder of Hannibal, Mo., Erin Housholder and friend, David, of Quincy, Ashley Householder of Dumfries, Va., Brandi (Scott) Craig of Burlington, Danielle (Andrew) Horras of Collinsville, Jaime (Mark) Bentzinger of Sutter, Stacie (Mike) Payne of Carthage, Jordan (Megan) Maag of Montrose, Lance LaBonte of Warsaw, Jared LaBonte of Quincy, Kris (Megan) Rude of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mindy Rude of Warsaw and Megan (Jason) Denning of Cedar Rapids; 32 great-grandchildren, Kristopher Warning, Jamey Brown, Jake Grimsley, Jabez Loos, Faith Vonderhaar, Kenleigh, Maggie and Sawyer Householder, Elias Weathers, Colin Egbert, Bentley and Brayden Householder, Alexis, Addyson, Dayton and Dominic Horras, Logan and Simon Bentzinger, Eric Payne, Kaitlyn Shotwell, Easton and Hallie Rude, Devin Thompson, Samantha and Benjamin Denning; two great-great-grandchildren, Issak Brown and Olivia Oenning; a nephew, Tim Householder; a niece, Dona Rickard; and many great-nieces and nephews. Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Allen; two brothers, Arthur and Clarence Humke; a nephew, Terry Householder; and a special friend, Tom Nesbit. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at First Presbyterian Church of Warsaw. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw.
