Mary H. Kruegel, a long-time resident of Washington DC, died on November 13, 2016. Mary, born Mary Louella Hill, was born on December 10, 1911 in Mercersburg, Franklin County, PA; Mary was the third of 11 children of Ralph Edgar Hill and Martha Anetta Hill (nee Comerer). Her husband, Erwin O. Kruegel, predeceased her in 1975 after a 15 year marriage. She out-lived all of her siblings. Mary did not have any children. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Florence Hill (wife of Mary's brother, Jack Hill) of Mercersburg, PA, and many nieces and nephews. Mary attended Thompson Business College in York, Pennsylvania and, after beginning her career with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, began a career both in the Federal Government, and with Battelle Memorial Institute. She retired from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as a personnel supervisor. Mary was a member of National Presbyterian Church, and participated in the Business and Professional Women's Guild of the National Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the book club at her apartment complex until age 100, and an active bridge player through her 90's. Her engaging personality and bright sense of humor will be missed by her many relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Joseph Gawler's Sons LLC. 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW (Harrison St.), Washington, DC.
