Mary Jane Ensley (Ryan) Of Sumner, WA, passed away on February 4, 2017. Mary was born on October 17, 1927 in Pocatello, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Clara Ryan; sister, Marjorie; brothers Tom and Lewis; and her son, Mark. She is survived by her husband, Martin Ensley; daughters Marcia Patterson (Kevin) and Michelle Ensley (Ron); seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mary graduated from Auburn High School in 1945. She attended nursing school and later taught preschool. She and Martin were married in Auburn on May 8, 1947. Their love, respect and support for each other was strong and is an inspiration to family and friends. She was a community volunteer in several organizations and at her church. Mary was a woman of faith and greatly enjoyed attending Sumner Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, grew beautiful flowers, enjoyed dancing and music. She was a devoted bridge player and enjoyed playing with her dear friends, the Sunshine Girls most of all. Mary loved to travel, including the many weekends and vacations spent at the family cabin. She treasured family, especially her children and grandchildren, who brought her great joy. Mary always looked forward to their visits and never tired of hearing their stories. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Sumner Methodist Church. Donations to the church or to MultiCare Hospice Comfort Therapies Program are suggested.
