Lyle MendenhallParrish, FloridaLyle Rae Mendenhall, 78, recently of Parrish, Florida and formally of Des Moines, Iowa passed away August 1, 2017 at Tidewell Hospice in Ellenton, Florida. Services were held at First Baptist Church of Palmetto, Florida on August 5. Lyle was born on August 28, 1938 to Hoyt and Lila Mendenhall as one of eight children. Lyle went to Lincoln High School and then enlisted in the US Navy serving his country on the USS Osborne. Upon his return to Iowa Lyle went to work for the City of Des Moines where he retired from after 30 years of service.Lyle married his childhood sweetheart Nancy Ann Disco on August 27, 1960. Together they raised three children Craig, Lori (Paul) Maney, and Todd. He was very proud of his five grandchildren - Erin (Jeff) Sawhill, Brian (Brianna) Mendenhall, and Ryan, Parker and Bryce Maney. He was also very proud of his first great grandchild Brynna Kay Sawhill.Lyle was active throughout his life running marathons, traveling and taking great pride in his homes.Lyle's family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Tidewell Hospice and the many friends and family that supported Lyle and gave him strength during his illness.
