Lurena JensenRedding, CAOn January 14, 2017 Lurena Jensen passed away after a lengthy illness at Red Bud Care Home in Redding, where she received excellent care. Lurena was born on May 29th, 1923 in Polk County, Arkansas. She grew up on a forty acre cotton farm near Cherry Hill, Arkansas. The house had no running water or electricity but there were two mules, Pete and Repete. After high school Lurena went to business school, studying book keeping. On September 29th, 1945 she married Dewayne Vaughn upon his return from WW II. Dewayne and Lurena had one daughter, Debbie. In 1955 Dewayne and Lurena moved to Redding. Lurena worked for Eaton's Drug Store, Sierra Stationers and Dr. Howard Gard. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Redding from 1959 until the time of her death. Following the death of Dewayne, she married Dave Jensen, a fellow member of the church, on January 20th, 2001. Lurena had a long and full life. Those who knew her will remember her as full of life. She leaves her daughter, Debbie Stokes, son-in-law, John Stokes, step-son David Jensen and two granddaughters, Christine and Stephanie Stokes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guildford and Mossie Hickey, her brother, Russell Hickey and sister, Evelyn Middleton.
