MISSOULA, MT - Lucian Alexandre, 89, passed away from natural causes on November 7, 2016 at the Village Senior Residence in Missoula, Montana.Lucian was born on May 6, 1927 in North Providence, RI to Maria (Governor) and Jose Alexandre. He lived in Pawtucket with his siblings Casmiro, Herman, and Eva and surrounded by his large, extended Portuguese family. Lou attended Slater Memorial and West Senior High Schools. He counted his high school experiences, where he excelled in athletics and met the woman of his dreams, among his most cherished times. He formed life-long friendships with members of Pawtucket West Class of 1945 and relished attending class reunions that provided an opportunity to reconnect with his classmates. After high school, following World War II, he enlisted in the military and served in the Army of Occupation in Germany. On August 26, 1950 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Kathryn Field. To this union was born three children: Andrea Elizabeth, (Nancy) Kim, and Keith Field. It would be hard to find a kinder, more loving father, and a better, more generous friend.Lucian worked for Gorman/Nissan bakery as a delivery salesman for 36 years. He enjoyed membership in the DAV and VFW. Volunteer service was a priority for Lou, whether for civic organizations, the city of Pawtucket, the city of Brewster, Massachusetts or for his many friends and family members. Lucian was a long-standing member of the IDIP Club where he gained many cherished friendships and wonderful memories that sustained him.In 2012, after 62 years of marriage, his beloved wife Mary preceded him in death. Others welcoming his arrival in heaven include his daughter, Andrea, and his parents and siblings. He is survived by daughter Kim (Stephen) Powell, son Keith, daughter-in-law Anne, son-in-law James Jones, and by many loving extended family members including devoted nieces Cindy Bryan and Patricia Immen. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren: Elizabeth, Leigh (Will), Seth, and Marc Jones; Luke (Jeannette), Ben (Mai), Stephanie (Brian), Matthew (Sarah), Courtney (Mitch), and Jaclyn (Tel) Powell; K. Ryan (Alexandra), and Kaci Alexandre; and great-grandchildren Will, Jalen, Aaron, Kim, Katherine, Saphia, Emily, Ethan, Cadence, Averie, and Carlamaria. Lucian's family is forever indebted to the staff at the Village Senior Residence and Hospice of Missoula, MT for providing a dignified and supportive independence during his final years. At his request, a celebration of his life will be held in Rhode Island in the summer of 2017. As the perpetual giver, Lucian has donated his remains to the University of Washington Medical School so that others might benefit. They will be amazed at the size of his heart.
