Lucas Groshek Obituary

Aug 05, 1979 - Jun 26, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Groshek, LucasLucas Alan Groshek, 37, Tigerton, died on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was born on August 5, 1979 in Wausau, the son of Alan and Jane (Ringstad) Groshek, Eland. In 2001 Lucas was united in marriage to Carolyn Fenske. She survives. No one was beneath Lucas. He made friends and chatted with everyone he met. Everyone was important to him no matter what walk of life. If help was needed, he was there to offer it. His huge heart has touched so many. Lucas had a tremendous passion for baseball. He loved being part of the team and although he never did "go yard" he always joked about someday doing it. He did manage to keep his average up even with his bloopers into the opposite field. His fish stories will always be remembered but he did have some trophy catches. He always managed to get a bigger deer mount than his dad and would still make his dad feel good about his. Lucas always had time to call his mother and make her laugh. There will never be another Lucas. His uniqueness will never be matched. He could make you laugh with one line yet he could easily be reduced to tears at the thought of someone in pain or in trouble. He was so very compassionate. He raised his children with all the knowledge of his own troubles, being open and honest with them and forming them into confident young people who know what can go wrong. His children were most important to him. He loved them and even though his downward spiral took him away from them, they were number one in his heart. You could see pain in his eyes that he couldn't beat this disease and be with them more often. Last week he watched Gwen in a softball game and played a basketball game with Leo. He was happy. "Go yard" Lucas.Survivors include his parents, Alan and Jane Groshek, Eland; wife, Carolyn Groshek, Tigerton; two children, Leopold and Gwenneth Groshek, both of Eland; one sister, Jamie (Craig Suda) Groshek, Eland; father-in-law, Randal Fenske, Elderon; mother-in-law Leslie Gehrman, Tigerton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.Lucas was preceded in death by his grandparents, Florian and Regina Groshek and Jim and Bud Ringstad.A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Rev. Adam Roberts will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared at schmidtschulta.com.
