Rice, Lowell D.Lowell D. Rice, 86, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017. The son of Norman and Pearl (Graham) Rice was born on January 17, 1931, in Oconto Falls, WI. Lowell graduated from Washington High School in Oconto Falls in 1949 and later from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI with a degree in Business Administration.On May 19, 1951, he married the love of his life, Delores Klein. They enjoyed 66 years together. Lowell and Delores had three children, David (Joni Cartier) Rice, Colleen (Chris Vanevenhoven) Rice, and Gregory (Diane) Rice.Lowell proudly served in the U.S. Navy from March 1951 until he was honorably discharged on July 1, 1953. He served aboard several destroyers. Most of his sea duty was in the Mediterranean in Italy, France, Greece, Turkey, and other countries.He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and served as Commander for the Manitowoc-Two Rivers Chapter 24.Lowell was an accountant and worked at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company and the Green Bay Food Company where he was Accounting Manager, retiring in 1990 after 25 years of employment.He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping the Sheboygan and Oconto Rivers, and was an avid reader.Lowell is survived by his wife; his three children; two sisters, Donna VandenBush, and Janice Doney; four grandsons, Aaron Rice, Nick (Corie) Monthei, Jordan Monthei, and Sean Monthei; two great-grandsons, Liam and Nolan Monthei. He is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eldon and Leone Klein, Leon Klein, Daniel and Sandra Klein, Deanna and Don Hallwachs, Kermit and Mary Ann Klein, Marie Klein, Georgianna Klein, and Julie Klein; numerous nieces and nephews.Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Neil Rice; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Ella Klein; brothers-in-law, William VandenBush, Vernon Doney, Ivan Klein, Gene Klein; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Harriet Hooper, and Marvin and Florence Klein.Visitation and Funeral Services were held on June 11 and June 12 at Blaney Funeral Home, in Green Bay.
