Louis Joseph SaviniMelbourne Louis Joseph Savini, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, coach and friend to so many, passed away on October 16, 2017. "Lou" was 94.He was born on April 15, 1923 in Wayne, PA, to hard working Italian immigrants Frank and Annacelia ("Mom and Pop") Savini. Lou attended Radnor High School and made a name for himself in football and basketball.  He graduated in 1940 and worked full-time before enlisting in the US Marine Corps in 1943. Lou served with distinction in the Pacific Theatre of Operation, Second Joint Assault Signal Company, also known as the 2nd Marine Division.    Lou was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in January 1946.  Upon leaving the Corps, he enrolled at Elon College where he received a full sports scholarship and became a three-sport letterman.  He played end, half back and quarterback on the football team, captained the basketball team and was a starting outfielder on the baseball team. It was at Elon where Lou met Frances Branson, his wife of 69 years at the time of his passing.Lou began his career as a high school teacher and coach. He touched many lives coaching young men in football and basketball in Jacksonville, NC for three years.  Lou went on to an illustrious career in sales and sales management. He worked in Michigan, Virginia and Pennsylvania before settling into roles based in Atlanta. Over time he would commute to Chicago and Frances and he split time between Atlanta and Chicago for many years. Lou and Frances retired to Florida in 1987 and spent three happy decades there enjoying the climate, the water and year-round golf.           Lou is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Annacelia; his four brothers Albert, Michael, Woody and Johnny; and nephews Jay and Michael. He was fiercely proud of his brothers, their families and in particular his mother and father. As strong as he was, he often marveled at their fortitude and resilience in leaving their country and raising five boys in the Depression years.He is survived by his wonderful and loving wife of 69 years, Frances Branson Savini; his children Frank Savini, Barbara Savini and Tom Savini; daughters-in-law Julie Tatum Savini and Ginny Parker Savini; grandsons Daniel Triestman, Adam Triestman and Grant Triestman; granddaughters Marie Savini, Amy Savini, Jessie Savini and Caroline Savini; and great-granddaughter Madison Triestman.   To those who knew and loved him, Lou Savini was larger than life - a man of principle, integrity, generosity and utmost devotion to both his immediate and extended family. He was "Pop-Pop" to his seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He never tired of their visits and hearing about their successes in school, business and the military. They were truly the light of his life. Lou Savini represented the best of the Greatest Generation and he will never be replaced or forgotten.A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, October 30, at the Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Viera, Florida.
