Lou Pate Koenig JonesMemphis, TNLou Pate Koenig Jones, 99, died peacefully on August 15, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, East in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Glen Whiten and Ida Althea Beulah House Pate. She was predeceased by her brother, Josiah Calvin Pate and her husbands, Myron Law Koenig and Joseph Jefferson Jones, III. Lou was born on September 14, 1917 in Newbern, Tennessee. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1939 where she was selected for membership in Phi Beta Kappa. With the outbreak of WWII, she enlisted in the U. S. Navy's WAVE program. After her active duty, she remained in the Naval reserves -- serving in the Korean Conflict and earning the rank of commander. Lou married Myron Law Koenig in 1957. They settled in Washington D. C., where she worked as a systems analyst for the National Planning Association, the U. S. Air Force, and the Social Security Administration in her post military career. In 1969, they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where they lived until Myron's death in 1970. Afterwards, Lou returned to live and work in Washington. In 1974, she married her lifelong friend and high school sweetheart, Joseph Jefferson Jones, III. They lived in Newbern, were active in the community and travelled the world. In 1994, she and Jeff moved to Memphis and became residents of Trezevant Manor in 1997. While at Trezevant, they established the Trezevant Foundation Scholarship Fund, and Lou served on numerous committees. She is survived by her nephew, Jackson House Pate of Newbern; great-nephews, John Pate Cunningham (Bonnie Bonnell Cunningham) of Baltimore, Maryland and James Calvin Pate (Helen Britt Pate) of Newbern; great-nieces, Peri Jane Pate (John Lawrence Baker) of Memphis and Ann Cunningham Clessas (George Michael Clessas) of Alexandria, Virginia; seven great-great-nieces and nephews; a great-great-great-nephew; and her dear friends and assistants, Gloria Carter and Patrice McCullough.Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee on Saturday, August 19, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service. A celebration of life will be held in Memphis at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Trezevant Foundation Scholarship Fund, St. Mary's Episcopal Church, the Agnes Scott College Scholarship Fund or the .Johnson Williams Funeral Home(731)627-3236
