RACINE - Lorraine Marie (Novak) Donovan died July 26, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 10, 1925 in Racine, WI to the late Edmund and Harriet Novak. On May 12th, 1955 she married Jeremiah Donovan who proceeded her in death in July 1968. She graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1943. She worked as an office manager for a group of family practice physicians for decades. She was an avid volunteer- serving as a member of the Red Cross, a baton instructor and a lifelong Girl Scout leader. She loved to read, enjoyed music and will be remembered for her unfailing desire to help others in need and her wicked sense of humor. Lorraine's legacy of love includes her surviving children, Kathryn (Steven) Scherbarth, Michael Donovan, John (Susan) Donovan and Ann (Scott) Wendorf. She had a special place in her heart for her "extra" son, Daniel Clemente. In addition, she is survived by 11 grandchildren- Matthew Scherbarth, Jeremiah (Elizabeth) Scherbarth, Willem Scherbarth, Shane Donovan, Seth Donovan, Tasha Greiner, Benjamin Donovan, Joseph Donovan, Daniel Donovan, Kathryn Wendorf, Jakob Wendorf and her special angel waiting for her, Christopher Donovan. She was also blessed with two great grandchildren- Ethanuel and Elijah Scherbarth. Her brother Edmund also preceded her in death. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to staff at Oak Ridge Care Center and Hospice Alliance. A special thanks goes out to Fr. John Gibson for his thoughtfulness during her last days. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the or Hospice Alliance. Visitation will be Thursday July 31 from 5-7 with a Catholic prayer service at7 at Miller-Reesman funeral home. There will be a private committal at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery on Friday.
