Uitenbroek , Lorraine ClareLorraine C. Uitenbroek, age 84, of Freedom, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the Country Villa. She was born on April 11, 1932, daughter of the late Peter and Lucy (Coenen) Diedrick. On September 23, 1953, Lorraine married Don Uitenbroek at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Together they farmed in Freedom all of their married lives. Lorraine was a very active member of the VFW Auxiliary to Freedom Post 7692. She joined in September of 1963, and held many offices throughout the years, including President several times. Lorraine volunteered for over 40 years at St. Nicholas school and parish. She also volunteered at the Golden Agers dinner, the Memorial Day breakfast and countless hours at the VFW picnic. Lorraine was a wonderful mother and grandmother before everything else. Her giving spirit, quick wit and contagious smile will be truly missed. Lorraine is survived by her children: Phyllis Van Asten, Wrightstown; Bob (Lori) Uitenbroek, Freedom; Janet (Pete) Van Handel, Kaukauna; Lyle (Christa) Uitenbroek, Freedom; Lisa (Jerry) Ebben, Mackville; Lori (Bob) Greiner, Freedom; Gail (Jeff) Van Rossum, Black Creek; Jill (Karen) Uitenbroek, Little Chute; her grandchildren: Ryan (Tiffany), Jason (Jamie), Matthew, Brian (Erin), Mike, Nichole (Kyle), Jon, Connor and Courtney; great grandchildren: Jordyn, Aubrey, Logan, Hunter, Easton and Claire; a sister, Bernice (Ray) Ver Voort; brothers and sisters-in-law: Eve Diedrick, Delores Diedrick, Irene, Jerome (Lynn), Cliff (Joanne), Paul (Donna), Ruth, Joe (Eleanor) and Janice Uitenbroek; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Don; a son-in-law, Jim Van Asten; siblings: Joe Diedrick, Ernie Diedrick and Vi (Ed) Evers; brothers-in-law: Denis, Claude and Mark Uitenbroek. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 16, 2016, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom. A parish prayer service will begin the evening at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
