Loretta Ivy was born 2/28/1955- to the union of Doris L Ivy and Arthur Ivy. Loretta was born and raised in the Old Town Neighborhood. Loretta grew up on Goethe Street near Arthur Ivy’s first business a carwash on Chicago’s northside. Soon after, the Ivy family moved to the West Side of Chicago purchasing a multi-unit residential building which was the center of their burgeoning businesses and family life. In the 1970s Loretta started a family of her own producing three daughters that she loved very much. Doris V Walker, Roberta Walker, and April Walker all of Chicago Illinois, She is the grandma of Charles E Collier IV, Robert Bolden, Jimmiah Townes, Jimmy Townes, Ashley Walker, Amon Walker, Christian Coburn, Ashanti Coburn, Deonna Walker, George Garmon Rochell Garmon, GJuana Garmon, Charles Paxton, and Rashaad Walker. She is also the great-grandma of many great-grandchildren including Ja’Keirion and Ja’Marion: Amir, Harmony, and Marianna. Loretta Ivy displayed an affinity for education at an early age and excelled at all of her studies, planned to go to college and aspired to be a nurse. She lovingly devoted her early years as a young mother, spiritual leader, homeschooler, and wife to Robert Walker. Loretta was the 4th of 10 siblings: Diane Ivy, Patricia Ivy, Shirley Ivy, Teresa Ivy, Dennis Ivy, Leonard Ivy, Lawrence Ivy, Andrew Ivy, and Arthur Crume Jr. whom she was endeared to. Loretta has countless aunts and uncles that she admired and had a hand in raising her. Her grandmother Hattie Belle was also responsible for her care as a child. Loretta attended Bryant School, Lucy Flower, Chicago College of Automation under the Instruction of Professor Jones, and concluded her education at National Louis University. She obtained her medical assistant certification and pharmacy technical license as professional credentials. Additionally, Loretta served at the American Red Cross as a volunteer another chapter in her illustrious career. Loretta Ivy was a part of an amazing public service team representing the State of Illinois, they were her co-workers and friends. She will be dearly missed. Loretta’s spiritual affluence began under the leadership of Rev. Morris of the West Side of Chicago, William V Banks Grand Lodge of the Eastern Stars, the Chicago Church of 

Christ, Gurnee Community Church and was fulfilled at Living Word Christian Center under the leadership of Dr. Bill Winston. Loretta has many professional colleagues, but I would like to mention specifically Florence Roque whom she spent time with in Deming New Mexico where she said she wanted to move to shortly before passing. She served her community tirelessly until she passed. Loretta’s love for life, work ethic, education, beauty, and deep affection for others gave her the personality that she will always be remembered for. Loretta has too many friends to count, and to know her was to love her. She touched the lives of anyone that she became a part of and used her skills and experience to enhance herself and the lives of others.  Anyone who met her loved her, she always supported other individuals interest and was a pillar in her community and family. Loretta inspired every person she met and left a legacy of persistence, perseverance, spirituality, and poured her life out for her children, her educational excellence will be remembered throughout the passages of time. She will be loved and missed eternally by all who truly knew her.
