IRVINE, Calif. - Lois Eloise Munson Tolles, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, with a heart filled with faith, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Irvine, California. She joins her cherished husband, Willard E. Tolles; and siblings Ira Munson, Eunice Munson Gilbert, and Ralph Munson. She is survived by her children, Eric Tolles (Cindy), and Betsy Tolles Droemer (Darryl); and five grandchildren, Matthew, Brian, Morgan, Christian, and Alex. Lois was born on Nov. 23, 1926 in Meriden, Conn. to Jennie and Chauncey Munson. She spent her childhood living on her family's farm on Pond Hill in Wallingford and her family is among the original settlers of Wallingford. She graduated from Hamden High School in 1944 and received a B.S. Degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University in 1948. She moved to Southern California in 1951. Lois had many jobs but thoroughly enjoyed being librarian/media specialist. Lois was actively involved in community organizations but one of her proudest achievements was writing the mayor of Wallingford to rename a street to Munson Drive in recognition of her family living in the area for over 350 years.Above all Lois was deeply passionate about her family and many friends. A memorial service was held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Newport Beach California.
