BURLINGTON - Linda R. Pringle, 74, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington. Linda was born on August 3, 1941 to Ernest and Ruth (nee Teschner) Novak in Decatur, IL. On February 28, 1988, in St. Louis, MO, she was united in marriage to Thomas Pringle. Linda spent her early life in Decatur where she graduated from high school. She attended the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO, graduating in 1962. She moved to Burlington in 1969 and not long afterwards, she began her career as a Registered Nurse at the Burlington Hospital. Her love of travel found its way into her profession when she travelled to Russia in 1995 to participate in a nurse exchange program. After more than 25 years at the hospital, she worked several more years at the Burlington Clinic. Following her 2005 retirement, Linda worked part-time as a Breast Care Coordinator at the hospital and was an active member of the Burlington Hospital Volunteers, serving as a patient advocate and teaching children at Kid’s Club. Linda was an intelligent, knowledgeable, respectful, and caring person. She never complained about the challenges of life. She remained strong, brave, and positive through it all. She had an easy smile and had a ready ear. She looked for the good in people. Linda had a gentle soul, but could also be direct with offering her opinion, and then you knew where you stood with her. She was a role model, mentor, and confidante to many people. Linda set the example of finding balance in life with family, faith, work, and the pursuit of personal interests. Most describe her as wonderful and amazing. Linda enjoyed many social activities and family gatherings and was known to say that she didn’t want to miss anything. Linda loved her many adventurous and world-wide trips with Tom. She treasured spending time with family, especially during holidays and the annual family girls and “cabining” (camping) weekends. She had a special affection for her grandchildren and attended many of their activities. Linda also enjoyed reading, playing Sudoku puzzles, and watching Packers and Brewers games and other sports. The family sincerely thanks all involved with Linda’s treatment and care over the years and are grateful for their compassion towards her. The family also gives heart-felt thanks to all her friends and co-workers for their support to help sustain her along her life’s journey. Linda is survived by her husband, Tom; children, Ruth (Mark) Schenning, David (Mary) Hickethier, Sara Hickethier, and John (Kim) Hickethier; step-children, Nancy (Doug) Faulkner, Patricia (Ron) Heitkemper, and Michael Pringle; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Paul (Denise) Novak. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, a step-son, and two step-daughters. Memorial donations may be made to the Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington Breast Treatment Assistance Fund or the Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington Volunteers Scholarship Fund. Services for Linda will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, of which she was a founding member. Rev. Dan Vojta will officiate.
