Linda K. StenbergJuly 4, 1942 - Oct. 29, 2017BUCHANAN - Linda Kay Stenberg, age 75 years of Buchanan, Michigan, died peacefully at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at her home following an illness.She was born on July 4, 1942, in Charlevoix, Michigan, to Wayne Fae and Dolores Cleo (Youngedyke) Steiner. She was graduated from Bellaire High School and attended Central Michigan University (Mount Pleasant). She came to Buchanan in 1971, and was employed as a purchasing agent by the former Packard Industries in Niles, Michigan, for twenty-five years.Linda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Niles where she participated in the Reap Sewing Group, and helped to establish the Kids Closet at the Ellis House. She was an avid and talented quilter, and created each year a new quilt for the fundraising auction of the Disaster Relief Fund of the Mennonite Central Committee. Her interest in fabric crafts and textile arts included dying her material, doll making, and designing and tailoring clothing for children and adults. She also practiced other arts & crafts media including stained glass windows. She enjoyed maintaining a garden of perennials, and reading a wide variety of subjects including many mysteries.On June 23, 1962, in Bellaire, she married Daniel R. Stenberg, Ph.D., with whom she celebrated this year the remarkable Fifty-Fifth Anniversary of their wedding.Surviving family includes her husband, Dr. Dan Stenberg, and their children, Mark (& Tammy) Stenberg of Trezevant, Tennessee, Catherine (& Ron) Johnston of Warsaw, Indiana, and Amy (& Bob) Schlotterer, J.D., of Beverly Hills, Michigan; grandchildren, Brad Stenberg, Josh (& Brittany) Stenberg, Sophia Schlotterer, and Sabrina Schlotterer; great-grandchildren, Kris, Willow, and Ronan Stenberg; Linda's mother, Dolores Steiner of Bellaire; and Linda's brothers, Daniel (& Ann) Steiner and Scott (& Karen) Steiner, both of Bellaire; and several nieces and nephews.Linda was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Steiner, on December 3, 2015, and by a grandson, Jeff Stenberg, on January 16, 2015.The memorial service for Linda Stenberg will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church in Niles, with the Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence of the church officiating. Committal will be in the Columbarium of the church.The family will receive relatives and friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
