LeGrand Weller,Jr.McAllen, TXLeGrand (Le) Joseph Weller, Jr., died October 29, 2016 of natural causes at his home in McAllen, Texas. He was born on February 25, 1932, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the eldest son of LeGrand J., Sr. and Florence M. Weller. Le served in the U.S. Army, then earned a bachelor's degree at
Louisiana State University and a master's degree from Duke University. He was a professor at Pan American University from 1967 to 1978, then an independent oil producer from 1978 to 2012. He also was owner of Fine Books Co., a producer of history CD's, from 1990 to 2000.Le was a devoted family man, especially cherishing his grandsons and great-grandson. Preceded in death by his first and second wives, Nancy Gates Weller and Vicki Sue Dailey Weller, and his brother Robert Weller.Le is survived by his sister, Gail (William) Roe of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; his children Margaret (Chris) Burns of McAllen, Texas, LeGrand J. (Kathy) Weller III of Canyon Lake, Texas and David A. Weller of McAllen; step-daughters Karen (Todd) Lesiker of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Jennifer (Tom) Vail of Westminster, Colorado; grandchildren Ross (Jena) Weller of Corpus Christi, Texas, Lucas Burns of Houston, Texas, Dylan Burns of Anger, France, Zachary (Dominique) Burns of Lafayette, Colorado; and great-grandson Hayden Lee Weller of Corpus Christi, Texas.The family can be reached through Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen.
