Lawrence Gene Behling (Larry) Lawrence Gene Behling (Larry), 81, passed away Tuesday February 4th 2014 at Hospice House in Kenosha after a brief illness.He was born on November 26th, 1932 in Waterford, WI to Ellen Joan (née: Amon) and Delbert Elam Behling. He went to Waterford High School and graduated Class of 1951. He attended two years at UW Whitewater. He entered the US Marines Corp. in March 1952. He served in the in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in March 1954 earning the National Defense Service medal, Korean Service medal, and United Nations Service medal. Married the love of his life Maryann C. Blahuta-Miller in Waukegan, IL in July 1970. Larry retired in February of 1995 as dock foreman for Consolidated Freightways in Waukegan, IL. He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union 705, an Honorary Retired Member Local Union 301. Member of The American Legion Gurnee Post 771. He also was one of the Site Representatives for many years at Parkside Baptist Church for the Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services and considered everyone there a special friend. He enjoyed family time, watching all sports, crossword puzzles, giving gifts to those in need and most of all he prided himself on family and enjoyed his 15 grandchildren, Andrea, Alexander, Shayla, Heather, Joseph, Stephanie, Danielle (Connor), Serena, Marissa, Arielle, Katherine, Lillian (Eric), Rianna, Rachel, and Vaughn. He is survived by his wife Maryann, children from his first marriage, Elizabeth Rash (Edward), Peggy Jo Behling, Lawrence Behling; children with Maryann, Bradley Behling (Laura) and Christine Gustaveson (Michael); his three step-children, Mary Wilde (Stanley), Steven (Pamela)Miller, Rudolph Miller, his sister Nancy Conwell, Sister-in-law Joan Behling, Dianne (Tony) Infusino, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. His parents and in-laws, brothers Donald and Delbert, sisters Merry Reyes and Marcia Blank, and step-daughter Laura Vargas(Carter-Miller) preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his large family, friends, neighbors and classmates. We would like to thank all of his “Beautiful” Nurses, Social worker and Chaplains at St. Lukes Hospital up in Milwaukee and the kindness of the staff at Hospice House in Kenosha. The staff in Gates Hall at Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove, A special thank you from the family to Pastor Rockoff of Friedens Lutheran Church in Kenosha. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated to offset final medical expenses. Visitation will be Friday Feb. 7, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Kenosha Funeral Services with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Private Burial Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wis.
