Buhrandt, LawrenceLawrence Edward Buhrandt, age 86 of Suring, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He was born on November 1, 1930 in the Town of How to the late Ernst and Lydia (Pfieffer) Buhrandt. Lawrence attended Hayes Brook School and St. John Lutheran School before graduating from Suring High School in 1948.On October 27, 1951, Lawrence married Darlene Gardebrecht at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes. The couple lived in the Suring and Hayes areas for all 65 years of their marriage. Following their marriage, he worked at Manthei's Cheese Factory, Ford Garage, and Suring Co-op. prior to purchasing 3 farms in the Town of How. Lawrence enjoyed farming when he wasn't hunting, fishing, or cooking maple syrup.Lawrence served on the Town of How Board and as Chairperson for many years, as well as town Fire Warden for 50 years. In addition, he was an Oconto County Board Supervisor for 13 years and served on the Suring Mercantile Board for many years.Lawrence was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Darlene; five children, Steve (Judy), Ruth (Steve) Giese, Linda (Steve) Druckrey, Larry, Jason (Tammy); nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Kelly Jo, Vanessa, Benjamin, Brittany (Matt), Brennan, Hope, Faith, Nicholas; eight great-grandchildren, Connor, Garret, Elliot, Madelaine, Carson, Indie, Owen, Creed; nine brothers and sisters. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hayes, from 1 pm until the funeral service at 4:30 with Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiating. Lawrence will be interred in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
