LAURA L. TUREK, 74 APPLE RIVER - Laura L. Turek, 74, of Apple River, IL, died Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Monroe Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 20, 1939, the daughter of the late Walter and Lucille (Heidenreich) Schlichting. She was a 1956 graduate of Stockton High School. She is survived by her husband, Fred J. Turek; three daughters, Teri Carson of SC, Debbie (Roy) Kelley of MS, and Lori Brandt of CO; two grandsons, Chad Felz of SC and Ryan Felz of IL; five stepchildren, Peter, John, Lisa, Sara, and Tony; sister, Harriet Schlichting of WI; and sisters-in-law, Esther (Wayne) Wand, Elaine Schlichting, and Agnes Galiano. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Jerry, and Jim Schlichting; sister-in-law, Julie Schlichting; grandson, Nicky Felz; and son-in-law, Denny Brandt. Laura loved to travel with her husband of 35 years. She especially loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and was an avid quilter. She was always there for anyone in need or to help organize any function, including endless committees at the ACL Association. She will be greatly missed by all. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013, at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton, IL. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Schapville, IL, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton.
