Larry Sharkey, 60, passed away on March 22, 2014 in Yuma, AZ. He was born on August 3, 1953 in Phoenix AZ. Larry was employed with the Cocopah Indian Tribe for over 15 years. He attended San Pasqual Elementary and High School, and later received his G.E.D. In High School he played football and baseball, which often lead to being featured in the local sports section. Later he played volley ball and bowled for leisure activity. For relaxation he mostly loved to watch western shows on the television. Lastly he enjoyed dancing and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor. Larry is survived by his wife Irene Sharkey of East Cocopah Reservation; sisters, Pauline (Rudy) Allen, Georgina (Sylvester) Portillo, Pricilla (Steve) Brown all of West Cocopah Reservation and Frances Barley East Reservation and best friend; his pet Lab, Big Boy; Step son, Marvin Sharkey Jr; step grandchildren, Marvin Sharkey III, Mary E. Sharkey, Amanda Sharkey, Corina and Robert Maldonado, Delsie and Kelsey Jim, Jennifer and Jessica Serrano and Loren Thomas; step great-grandchildren, Xavier Marvin Sharkey, Nathan Sharkey, Emily Ramirez and Talon David Maldonado; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, Namon Allen, Phillip King, Lena King, Alana King, Deandra Barley, Joey Cesina, Autumn Barley, Faithlynn Allen, A.J. Marquez, Briana Cruz and Leena Paige. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sharkey and Florence Barley Sharkey and sisters, Darlene Sharkey King and Sharon Barley. Church service will be Friday, March 28, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm. Traditional services will be at 5pm at West Cocopah Reservation with cremation on Saturday morning 5am. Pallbearers will be Phillip King, Namon Allen, Chris Brown, Mandel Sanchez, David Sanchez, Robert Maldonado, Mitchell David and Jarrell Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Rudy Allen, Richard White, Vina White, Farlon Thomas, Tommy Thomas, Renita Thomas, Eduard Martinez, Robert Hammond, John Villanueva, Alfreda Davis, Lorie White, Roy Ruiz Jr., Dina Blackwell, Jerry Inzunza, Daryl Miller Sr., Francisco Robles, Dale Jim, Lorena Phillips, Susanna Cesina, and Mary Lu Brown.
