Lamar Myers Shaw, age 79, of Oscoda passed away on Aug. 15, 2016. He was born on Dec. 11, 1936 in Detroit to the late John and Evelyn Shaw. Prior to moving to Oscoda, Lamar was a resident of St. Clair Shores. He was a true American hero having served from 1954 to 1974 in the United States Army. Lamar served tours as Special Forces "in country" for both the Korean and the Vietnam Wars. He earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart commendations and qualified Airborne during his Army career. Lamar retired as a captain in 1974.He is survived by his children, Evelyn (Walter) Pickwick, Cassandra (Bradley) Krog, Henry Shaw (Sommers) and Marcus Shaw; brothers and sisters, Patricia, Kenneth, Diane and Bill; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation.
