Cundy, LaVerneLaVerne A. Cundy, age 86, of Laona, passed away Friday February 10, 2017 at Nu-Roc Community Health Care Center in Laona, Wisconsn. LaVerne was born on August 19, 1930 the youngest daughter of Lloyd G. and Sade W. (Rothbarth) Books. LaVerne married John T. Cundy, in 1952 who preceded her in death on February 8, 1994. LaVerne attended Oshkosh High School; retired from UW Headstart in 2002. LaVerne loved the children and people she worked with at Headstart. She took pride in her work. LaVerne loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and even had a great, great grandchild. She was very proud of each and every one of them. LaVerne lived at Simeanna for several years building lasting friendships with many of her neighbors before moving to Laona Wisconsin. LaVerne struggled with many health issues throughout her life making life more challenging for her. Her main objective however, in her own way, was to maintain relationships with her family. She truly loved them the best she could. LaVerne moved to Laona in 2014, moving to Nu-Roc Community Healthcare in February of 2015. Here she meet new friends that would become family to her. LaVerne experienced a new life at Nu-Roc, participating every day in every activity she could. She would pretend she was bored, but word from her new family stated otherwise. LaVerne is survived by her five children Ginger (Jerry) Weister - Oshkosh, Randy (Linda) Cundy -West Bend, Roxanne (Bryan) Anderson - Texas, Robin (Barb) - Oshkosh, and Rhonda (Kevin) Houle - Laona. LaVerne was blessed with 16 grandchildern, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Marion, Richard, Millard, Bernhard, two sisters Ellen and Phyllis. A special thank you to all the staff at Nu-Roc Community Healthcare for your love, care and compassion given to LaVerne. She truly loved you all. To June who became LaVerne's best friend and confidant along with special friends Delores and Shirley. A special thank you to Aunt Jeanie for all the love and kindness you shown LaVerne. To Joan and Ken Houle for making LaVerne feel loved, welcomed and special. To the entire Houle family who welcomed her as one of their own. To friends who knew and loved LaVerne for who she was and her quirky ways. But most of all to Kevin, her knight in shining armor. LaVerne will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Gathering of family and friends will be on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 10-11 a.m. at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Wabeno.
