Boehm, LaVerna Marie Ida (Ott)LaVerna Marie Ida (Ott) Boehm passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, with her family at her side.LaVerna was born on the family farm in Wood County on January 9, 1923 to Emil and Alma (Meissner) Ott. Fourteen years later, her brother Melvin, was finally born. Something she really longed for.She attended grades 1-8 in a one-room school house, and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1941. She was the only girl in her Trigonometry class, which did not make her teacher happy. Not only did she persevere, she received an A for her final grade and surpassed most of the boys in her class! She moved to Eau Claire in 1945 to attend Cosmetology School to pursue her life dream to own and operate her own shop. As fate would have it, she met the love of her life, Leonard Boehm, at Fournier's Ballroom, where they loved to dance the Polka. They married on April 12, 1948, and six children soon followed- Darnell, DuWayne, Dennis, Debra, Doreen, and David.LaVerna was truly one of a kind, yet strongly influenced by her German heritage and Wisconsin work ethic and values, as well as from growing up during the depression and WWII eras. She made a way when there was none. The basics were a priority and often went without. She always put others needs ahead of her own her entire life. She managed Leonard's home building business, and the rental properties, while maintaining a home and raising six children. Her family, her home, her picture window view of the birds and other wildlife, and her beautiful yard filled with her favored flowers- reflected her pride, and brought her joy, particularly in her final years. LaVerna loved to read, play cribbage, and do crossword puzzles. Her passing was swift and merciful. She died on a Sunday in a room with a view.LaVerna is survived by her children Darnell (Leslie) Boehm, Dennis (Jan) Boehm, Debra (Reinhart) Boehme, Doreen Boehm, David (Darlene) Boehm; five grandchildren, Shannon Chesebro, Alison Nucerino, Brittany Boehm, Pascal Boehme, and Mario Boehm; six great-grandchildren, and her brother Melvin (Doris) Ott; and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard; her parents; son, DuWayne; and grandchildren, Trevor Boehm and Chad Boehm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be given to Beaver Creek Reserve, S1 County Road K, Fall Creek, WI 54742.A Celebration of Life will be held 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Florian Gardens, 2340 Lorch Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701.The Boehm Family would like to thank Sacred Heart Hospital, St. Joseph?s Home Healthcare, and other special friends and neighbors for the wonderful love, support and care they provided.Arrangements are being handled by Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, Eau Claire, WI.For online condolences please visit
