"Our shooting star"LaRee Maughan Watkins, loving wife, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at the Bountiful Lakewood Hospital in Bountiful, Utah, on Nov. 12, 2010, after a very brief illness.LaRee was born on Sept. 9, 1936, in Hyrum, Utah, the next-to-youngest child of six, to Louis Parkinson Maughan and Ethel Redford Maughan. She graduated from Logan High School and married Boyd Charles Watkins in the Logan LDS Temple on July 15, 1955. LaRee will be remembered for her testimony of the gospel and her love for her Savior. Her kindnesses to others and her sincerity in all that she did. She served for many years teaching in the Relief Society in her ward, and she especially enjoyed her service as the ward librarian. She had a deep love for her fellow men and anyone that came in contact with her. She will always be remembered for her wonderful pecan brittle and the many cheesecakes, along with the other sweets that came from her kitchen that she shared with many of her friends. LaRee was employed for many years at the State of Utah Division of Motor Vehicles, and she then retired from the Utah Highway Patrol, of which she enjoyed her association with all her many friends. She thought very highly of all her associates there and loved them all.LaRee was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd C. Watkins; her father, Louis P Maughan; her mother, Ethel Redford Maughan; her brothers, Louis A. Maughan and Gerald R. Maughan; and her sister, Ramona M. Nielsen. She is survived by two sisters, Flora Maughan Obray of Paradise, and Arlene Maughan Liechty of Salt Lake City; and by many nieces and nephews. We will miss her reassuring smile and her positive attitude. The world has lost a magnificent lady. LaRee, you are our shooting star.The family would like to especially thank her nephew, David M. Liechty and family, for all their support of their dear aunt, and also to Dr. Oberg of the Lakeview Hospital and the staff of the ICU unit for their excellent care of LaRee.Funeral services for LaRee will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at the Pheasant Ward, 950 N. Main St. in Centerville, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. in Bountiful, Utah, and at the church on Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery in Logan, Utah.
