JAMESTOWN — L. Emerson Pettit age 86 of Jamestown, Ohio passed away at Miami Valley Hospital on December 23, 2013. He was born on January 20, 1927 in Colfax, Kentucky; the son of the late Tobe Pettit and Helen (Bradshaw) Pettit. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Geneva (Kennedy) Pettit, daughter Brenda Parrish, and a son Emerson Keith Pettit. He will be in heaven with his beloved brothers, Leon Pettit, Hubert Pettit, Robert Pettit, and Vernon Pettit and his sister Madge Wakely. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Janice Pettit, sons Gary Lee Pettit (Carol Ann) of Huber Heights, Richard Pettit of Jamestown, Timothy Pettit of Jamestown along with daughters Robyn Alsip (Dallas) of Jamestown, Marilyn Haney of Springfield, and Regina Palmer of Bradford. He had 4 step children, Michelle Klosterman, Rob Hauke, Missie Gauche, and Brady Hauke. He is also survived by his two sisters Nell Taylor (Paul) and Lovell Caudill. He was the grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; all whom he loved dearly. Emerson was a member of the Jamestown International Pentecostal Church of Christ for many years. He was a man who worked very hard his entire life. He worked for Super-Valu as a driver for 44 years and as a police officer for 30 years. His life's passions were his Music and his music family and working in his garden; which fed many friends and family. The family will receive friends on Thursday December 26th at the Church of Christ in Jamestown from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday December 27th at the Church of Christ and burial will follow at the Silvercreek Cemetery in Jamestown, Ohio. Please join the family after the burial at the Jamestown International Pentecostal Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.
