LEUNG, Kwai-Heung 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 2, 2017. Kwai was born on September 18, 1922 in Canton, China and moved to Victoria with her daughter, Maria, in 1966. Prior to retirement, she worked at Kennametal Limited during the day and then taught Cantonese (after work) at the Victoria Chinese Public School. Ever the scholar, upon retirement, she dedicated her newfound time to learning the English language. Family and friends were Kwai's love and joy. She will be remembered by those who knew her as sharp, independent, humorous, a colourful storyteller, and a whiz at mahjong. She was the mother to her beloved daughter Maria Tong (Bob); proud grandmother to Shannon (Doug), Aaron (Bonnie), and Michelle (Justin); and great-grandmother to Mackenzie, James, Adrian, and Ben. Kwai's family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Beckley Farm Lodge for providing such wonderful care and friendship. Kwai loved spending her time at the senior's day care program and often spoke fondly of the many friends that she made over the years. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 10, 2017 at Sands Funeral Chapel. A burial will follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Beckley Farm Lodge, 530 Simcoe St., Victoria BC, V8V 4W4. Condolences may be offered at www.sandsvictoria.ca
