Kevin Burkardt: A True Superhero

Kevin Charles Burkhardt passed after a long battle with chronic illness and returned to his heavenly home on 03/10/2020 at 1:55 AM at St. Lukes, Hospital. He is survived by his fiance Alexas Piper; Parents Charles and Karen (Hilfinger) Burkhardt; Two sisters, Joan Cadena (Robbie) and Jill Sczesny (Stephen); Grandmother, Janise Russell; as well as a large family bustling with loving aunts, uncles, and rambunctious cousins.

Kevin attended Maumee schools and graduated from Maumee High School in 2004, where he was a member of the Maumee Marching Pride and Maumee indoor drumline. This is where Kevin really shined, and the drumline played a major part in his life. Those that knew Kevin best will always remember him drumming on anything he set his hands on.

In 2008, he met the love of his life Alexas Piper, and they were engaged in 2013, going on to have three fur-baby children, BamBam (9), Lily (4), Thor (2). Kevin's love for Alexas was unmatched, and their relationship continued to grow throughout the years. Their relationship was full of extreme lows and blissful highs. Although, there were many hospital stays, countless procedures they stuck by each other's side, always making the best of every situation. Their strength was in each other, and at home, you could always count on one of them ready to pull the next "prank war" on one another.

Kevin was an uncle to his two nieces and nephew; Ava, Juliana, and Malachi. He loved this role, and although he did not have children of his own he took every moment with his nieces and nephews to be the best uncle a child could ask for. He was never ashamed to play barbies with the girls, build forts with blankets, or simply run around the house chasing the kids.

To help mitigate the spread of the COVOID-19 diseases, those who are sick or who have made trips outside the country or to areas where the disease has been reported should please not attend the service.

The elderly, who are particularly vulnerable based on reports should consider not attending for their own safety. "Social distancing" is going to be the new normal for the foreseeable future to control the pandemic.
