Kenneth Eldon Mitchell Sr. of East Tawas passed away peacefully under the loving care of his family on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at his home after battling a long term lung associated illness. Kenneth was born on Sept. 15, 1958 in Detroit to E. Kenneth and Florence Agnes (Dixon) Mitchell. He was a very skilled dry wall installer and finisher who owned and operated the Mitchell Dry Wall company for many years. He will always be remembered for the way he absolutely adored and cherished all of his family and friends. Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, and camping. He was crafty with his hands and could build almost anything with wood, but building bird houses were among his favorite. Kenneth and his sons were true into the sport of mud-bogging. Many fond memories and stories can be shared of their times together in the mud trucks and off road quads. Kenneth married his lovely wife, Della Marie (Farver) on July 12, 1980 in East Tawas at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together they celebrated 32 beautiful years of marriage. Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Della Mitchell of East Tawas; four loving children, Kenny (Allison) Mitchell Jr. of East Tawas, Keith (Candace) Mitchell of Tawas City, Nick Mitchell of East Tawas and Paige Mitchell of East Tawas; eight grandchildren, Alyssa, Aiden, Kelsey, Victorya, Aubrey, Caleab, Rylie and Mason; two sisters, Debbi (Keith) Howell of Warren and Cindy (Mike) Parnicky of Tawas City; and a brother, John (Cheryl) Mitchell of Tawas City; mother-in-law, Agnes Farver of East Tawas; one sister-in-law, Becky (Homer) Stitzer of East Tawas; two brothers-in-law, Leon (Gina) Farver of East Tawas and Russell (Jennifer) Farver of East Tawas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, E. Kenneth and Florence Mitchell; and his father-in-law, Leon Farver. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Buresh Funeral Home from 2 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at the Grace Lutheran Church in East Tawas with Reverend Matthew Carpenter officiating at 2 p.m. His family will welcome friends at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service.
