Kay A. HafnerDecember 12, 1946 - July 30, 2013Kay A. Hafner, 66, passed away on July 30, 2013, after a long illness. She was born on December 12, 1946, in Pocatello, Idaho to Earl L. Richards and Wilma Richards. She was raised in Boron, California and graduated from Boron High School. She received a BBS degree in Home Economics in 1970 from San Fernando Valley State College. Kay married Philip S. Hafner on June 3, 1969; six days later he left for Vietnam with the U.S. Army.Kay's working career included eight years at AMI and twelve years as a test administrator for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. She partnered with Philip to run Haf and Haf Collectibles. They enjoyed traveling to antique shows with their business.Kay had a great love for gardening and caring for her yard. She also enjoyed the outdoors and the annual camping trip with Philip to Redfish Lake; doll collecting, especially Terri Lee; watching figure skating; and caring for stray cats.She is survived by her husband, Philip Hafner; a brother, Rick Lee Richards; two nieces and one nephew; and a friend, Tish Starnes, whom she considered a sister.A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 20, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. at the overlook in front of the Idaho State Veterans Home, 1957 Alvin Ricken Dr., Pocatello, Idaho 83201.
