Hansmann, Kathryn A.Kathryn Hansmann, died on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Willowpark Place, New Holstein, where she had been a resident for 6 years; she was 89 years old.Kate was born on July 29, 1927 on the family farm near Cedar Lake, the daughter of the late Katherine (Kretsch) and Phillip Maurer. She attended Maple Corner School in Millhome and graduated from Kiel High School in 1945. Kate was employed at Ridge Motor Supply in Manitowoc, Salvatorian Center in New Holstein and Oil Refinery in Sheboygan before marriage.She was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Louis Corners, where on October 24,1953 she married Monroe Hansmann. They adopted a son Larry at age 3, the family resided at Cedar Lake for 20 years, later moving to rural New Holstein. Kathryn loved to take care of her gardens in the summertime and knit. Survivors include husband of 63 years, Monroe, one brother, Philip Maurer, two sisters-in-law; Dori Maurer and Myra Maurer, one brother-in-law; Walter (Carol) Hansmann, one sister-in-law; Audrey Hansmann. Kate is further survived by 31 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.Preceding her in death was her son Larry who died in 1973 after serving in Vietnam, two sisters; Bernice (Jack) Van de Grift and Doris (Robert) Wilbert, three brothers; Kermit (Nellie) Maurer, Alan and Daniel Maurer, one sister-in-law, Helen Maurer, and two brothers-in-law; Willard (Mirtha) Hansmann and Elroy Hansmann Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Ted Olson, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Thursday July 20, 2017 from 9:00am until the time of service at11:00am.In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to .Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.A special thanks to the special care given to Kate by Calumet County Home Health & Hospice and the staff at Willowpark Place.
