Katherine Orelean Greene died July 31, 2018 at the University of Omaha Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Louisiana, MO. The Rev. Horace Walters will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green, MO. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO.

She was born Katherine Orelean Florence on February 16, 1936 in Lincoln County, MO to Georgia and Carey Turner, and Orie Shephard, all of whom preceded her in death.

On February 14, 1955 she married Lawrence Eugene Greene (also deceased). This union produced 4 children, Terry Diane Smith of Omaha, Nebraska, Lawrence Eugene Greene, Jr. of Louisiana MO, Melanie Elaine Greene-Chatman of Davenport, Iowa, and Lori Ann Hayden of Aledo, Illinois.

Orelean, as she was known by her family and friends, was a gentle and kind hearted person who loved everyone. She was the ultimate mother and homemaker. On many occasions, she would stay up half the night just to sew a new outfit for one of her daughter’s school events the next day. Cooking meals for her family and friends was also something she enjoyed. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting afghans, and making rolls for everyone.

As a longtime employee of the Louisiana Nursing Home, she missed only one day of work in the 10 years of her employment. That was because she was encouraged by co-workers to just try it one time.

Orelean was a lifelong member of New Jerusalem Church in Louisiana until she moved to Bellevue, Nebraska where she then attended Greater St. Paul Ministries.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her 4 children, Terry (the late Minister Felton Smith), Larry, Melanie (Kevin), and Lori (Dana), 3 sisters, Sandra Walls, Betty Taylor, and Beverly Florence, and 4 brothers, Richard Turner, Carey Turner, Jr., Donald Turner, and Alfred Turner, 15 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
