PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Katherine Mae MacKinnon, age 96, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 15, 1920, to Luther and Eva (Murphy) Whitmore. She was a graduate of Waite High School and worked for many years teaching at Woodward High School and at the University of Toledo. Katherine also worked in administration for Toledo Public Schools and was a pioneer in the special education program at the Commodore Perry Hotel. She was also a member of the honorary teaching sorority Alpha Delta Kappa. After retiring Katherine moved up to her favorite place, her home on Lake George in Indiana which was affectionately known as "Grandma Kay's Place" where she hosted family and friends for many years. Katherine was also a very active member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. She hosted several foreign exchange students with her husband and also traveled the world. Katherine's hobbies included dancing, crafts, cooking and sewing. She was a loving wife mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Katherine is survived by her son, Neil (Elaine) MacKinnon Jr.; grandchildren, Neil (Camille) MacKinnon III, Rob (Cathy) MacKinnon, Greg (Lisa) MacKinnon and Amanda (Mike) Barton; and her great-grandchildren, Neil IV and Nadia MacKinnon, Robbie and Tommy MacKinnon, Ashton and Charlotte MacKinnon and Henry, Adalyn and Olivia Barton. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband, Neil A. MacKinnon. Family and friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Road, Rossford, Ohio, on Friday, July 29, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Rossford at 11 a.m. where the family will greet visitors beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Cemetery.
