Katherine M. BrownNewbury Park, CAKatherine M. Brown, age 74, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2015 with her sons by her side. Kathy was born on December 1, 1940 to the late Mary Grace (Weadock) and Peter Williams in Saginaw, Michigan. Kathy was raised in California by Marie McDaniels, visiting Michigan in summers to spend time with her Father and extended family. She was a graduate of St. Luke Catholic School and of Temple City High School in Temple City, California. She attended the University of Michigan where she met her former husband, Bill Brown. Together they had two children. After moving to Newbury Park, California in 1966, Kathy attended California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California graduating with a degree in Education. Kathy taught school in Ventura County for over 30 years. Teaching was Kathy's passion and her calling. She was a unique and caring educator. Many children who came through her classroom over the years became lifelong friends with Kathy and stayed in touch over the years. She was a lover of children, reading, all sports, Greek food, politics, Canasta, and her quiet time. Michigan Wolverine football was her team. She was "True Blue" beyond a doubt! Kathy was a loyal friend, could be very opinionated, had a lovely sense of humor and a great faith in her religion. Kathy spent 29 wonderful years with her beloved partner Leroy Remstad prior to his death.Surviving are her two sons, Rod Brown, Newbury Park, California and Jeff Brown, Oxnard, California; her cherished grandsons, Hank and Jack; and loving cousins, relatives and countless friends of many years. She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Williams; mother, Marie McDaniels; and brother, Ralph Kapitan.Graveside services will take place at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Road, Camarillo, California. Friends are welcome to visit with the family after the service.
