Kohel, Karen L.RIO/MADISON- Karen L. Kohel, age 74, passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on June 10, 1942, in Marshfield, the daughter of Roman and Betty Jane "Gigi" (Muir) Schueller. She married Raymond G. Kohel on Sept. 17, 1960. Karen started working in 1978 at the school kitchen. She retired in 1995. Raymond and Karen built their dream home in Rio where they enjoyed retirement. Karen is survived by her husband; daughter, Kimberly Carey (Troy Haeppner); two sons, Christopher and Brian (Danene Donahue); grandchildren, Glenna Lee Rodefer (Chris Shuppe), Sean Carey, Meggan Kohel and Jordon and Ryan Kohel; brothers, Michael, Steven (Sue), Robert and Allen (Rose) Schueller; and her cousin and best friend, Sharon Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her father and beloved mother; and her older sister, Sherry Ann. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr. Madison, at 12 Noon, on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the and Agrace HospiceCare.
