KATHERINE DAMRON CUMMINGS, 98, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016, at North Western Memorial Hospital in Margate, Florida. She was a longtime resident of Spring Hill, WV, until her move to Florida in November 2009. Katherine was born on March 15, 1918, in Midkiff, West Virginia, the oldest of four children of Fred and Carrie Franklin Damron. She earned a Degree in Education from Morris Harvey College and a Master's in Education from Marshall University. She worked for 35 years as an elementary teacher. Her career started in a two-room school and continued until her retirement from teaching at Spring Hill Elementary School. She worked by her husband's side as he pastored churches including Ivydale, Hilltop, Yawkey and Big Chimney Baptist Churches. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Spring Hill. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Henry Cummings, her mother and father, Carrie and Fred Damron, and brothers, Conrad and Thomas Damron. Katherine is survived by son, Glenn R. "Dick" Cummings and wife Lynda of Coral Springs, Fla.; daughter, Patricia McCormick and husband Ed of Burke, Va.; grandson, Scott Cummings and wife Kristen and their children Tali and Broderick of Denver, Colo.; grandson, Chad McCormick and wife Lisa and their children Lacey, Katie and Jason of Fairfax, Va.; grandson, Todd McCormick and wife Tori and their children CeCe and Cooper of Alexandria, Va.; granddaughter, Natalie Powers and husband Steven and their children Steven and Sofia of Lake Worth, Fla.; grandson, DJ Venne and wife Heather of Lake Worth, Fla.; and her beloved sister, Mary E. Durrett of Beaver Falls, Pa. A service to honor the life of Katherine Cummings will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at
Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, W.Va. Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at
