Dedicated, nurturing, self sacrificing and compassionate these are some of the qualities that describe Julie Anne Schelling, who passed away suddenly February 2nd, 2017, at the age of 46. Julie was born on June 28th, 1970 in Thunder Bay Ontario. She grew up in the comforts of a loving home with her parents Albert and Anna-Liza Schelling, She was also very blessed when she was reunited with her Birth Mother Val Bazaluk and met her brother Chris Bazaluk and sister Terra DeCorte. They instantly molded as family, no questions asked. She attended St Jude's, St Patrick's, and Selkirk High school. Her charismatic positive attitude, confidence and sense of humor attracted a man named Vince Van Teeffelen into her life. Julie graciously accepted and opened her heart to Vince's son Cory and treated him as her own. They built a beautiful life together, creating many joyous memories, especially the family vacations in their motor home. She enjoyed her job as a Dietary Aide at Lakehead Manor Long Term Care Facility. She was dedicated to her profession, helping those in need was always her most important consideration when caring for the residents, which she always treated like family. She found great fulfillment and purpose caring for the elderly. Julie will also be remembered by her love of children, she had a magnetic connection with them. Kids were always drawn to her. Growing up she participated in Brownies and attended Bible camp, she passed on all her favorite campfire songs, creativity and skills she learned to all the children who were fortunate to be in her life, especially her God daughter- great niece, Brooklyn and nephew Mason Chibnall.) Julie was a devoted wife, family member, friend and co-worker who loved whole heartily and gave unselfishly of her time with others. She touched the lives of many people during her time on this earth and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is now resting in peace with her loving parents Albert and Anna-Liza Schelling, her grandparents Veronica and Erik Tornblom, mother-in-law Assunta Van Teeffelen and her beloved cocker spaniel Tanner. Left to celebrate her life is her devoted husband Vincent Van Teeffelen, step-son Cory Van Teeffelen, Birth mother and step-father Val and Rick Bazaluk, brother Chris (Allison) Bazaluk, sister Terra (Brad) DeCorte, cousin Jacqui (Ken) Kajorinne, father in law Leo Van Teeffelen, sister-in-laws Leona Desaulnier, Julia (Ted) DeLuca, Trudy Van Teeffelen, brother-in-law John (Susan) Van Teeffelen. Julie also holds a special place in her heart for all of her nieces and nephews, and her beloved babies Buster and Sasha. She will also be missed dearly by her lifelong best friend Lisa Tienhaara (Russell, Andrew and Kaley), and her wifey Judy Martinsen. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, at St. Patrick's Cathedral celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Service will be complete in the church with cremation to follow. Final interment will take place at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery. Prayers will be offered Tuesday evening, February 7, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire, memorials to the Thunder Bay Humane Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Julie Schelling will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
