Juan D. "Taco " Gonzales, 66, a resident of Tucumcari, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014.He was born on April 14, 1948, in Las Vegas to the late David Donato Gonzales and Eloisa M. Marquez Gonzales.He worked as a road crew laborer for the New Mexico State Highway Department. He is preceded in death by his parents, David Donato and Eloisa Gonzales; son, John Paul Gonzales; brothers, Frank Joe Gonzales and Peter George Gonzales; and sister, Theresa Bengson.He is survived by his daughter, Estrella Tafoya and Richard R. Jr., of Las Vegas; sons, Estevan Gonzales of Albuquerque, Julio Gonzales of Tucumcari, and Aurelio Hernandez of Dallas, Texas; brothers: Jose Fermin Gonzales of Lelia Lake, Texas, and Joseph Paul Gonzales of Las Vegas; sisters, Mary Lou Dominguez of Fontana, Calif., Angie Gonzales of Las Vegas, Lorraine Rivera and husband, Ron, of Rio Rancho, Isabel Quinonez and husband, Tony, of Albuquerque, Helen Baca of Las Vegas, and Josephine Gonzales of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Briana Saiz, Brian Saiz, Jr., Dimitri Tafoya, Derek Tafoya, Adelina Tafoya, Estevan Gonzales, Jr., Emilio Gonzales, Enrique Gonzales, Esperanza Bachicha, Aaron Hernandez, and Lupita Hernandez; great-grandson, Jeremiah Tarr; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Douglas Mitchell as celebrant. Cremation will follow services.
