Joylein Alberta May HowellValdosta, GAJoylein Alberta Howell, 86, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends on April 13, 2017. She was born on Sept. 20, 1930, in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph May, Sr. and Beatrice Harker May. She was a nurse practitioner with the State of Georgia and served as the Southeast Regional Director of the Georgia Crippled Children's Program.She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: Brent Howell of Dallas, Texas, Craig and Kay Howell of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Schara and Mike Jarvis of Valdosta; five grandchildren: Shelly Jarvis of Jacksonville, Florida, Ashley Howell of Charleston, South Carolina, Tayler Jarvis of Juneau, Arkansas, Jason Howell of Columbus, Georgia, and Madison Jarvis of Statesboro, Georgia; three sisters-in-law: Jean Howell Sands of Adel, Georgia, Betty Howell Yates and Jim Yates of Valdosta, and Linda Howell Guy of Valdosta; nephews: Joseph May III of Mount Carmel, David Sands of Adel, Robert Morris of Valdosta, Tony Morris of Lake Park, Georgia, Joey Sands of Valdosta, and Jimmy Yates of Valdosta; nieces: Bonnie May Roberts of Los Angeles, California, Lettie Morris Ladoc of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Patricia Sands Edwards of Eufaula, Alabama, Sharon Yates Bryan of Valdosta and Kelley Guy McDowell of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Lee "J.H." Howell Jr. (USAF Ret.); three siblings: Joseph May Jr., Madilyn May Marquette and Letha May Morris; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Claude Sr. and Clyde Gibbs Howell; two sisters-in-law: Catherine Kushner May and Lena Faye "Dink" Howell Morris; three brothers-in-law: Alfred Morris, Junior Sands and Bill Guy; a nephew, Bill "Billy" Morris; and two nieces Faith Marquette Monk and Judy Marquette Griffin. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Buffy Walton and the staff of Hospice of South Georgia for their compassionate care. A graveside funeral service for Joylein is at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 15, 2017, in Sylvester Cemetery in Cook County.
