LAURINBURG — Joyce Terry Smith, 72, passed away on Nov. 18, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park. The Rev. Keith Woods and the Rev. Jeff Stone will officiate the services.
Joyce was born on March 29, 1941, daughter of the late Oscar and Martha Brisson Terry. She was devoted to her family and lovingly cared for her mother for more than 30 years. She retired from Bellsouth after 35 years of dedicated service.
Joyce was an outstanding volunteer for more than 20 years with Scotland Memorial Hospital, serving as past president of the Volunteer Auxiliary and the District 5 Volunteer State Representative. She also served on the Board of Trustees for the Edwin Morgan Center and volunteered with the Scots for Youth Program. Joyce was an active member of the Sandhills Community Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, watching movies and college basketball games. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she especially loved sharing time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years Edward "Ed" Smith of their home, sons Alan Smith and wife Deneane of Laurinburg and Ken Smith and wife Cindy of Tyler, Texas, brother John Terry and wife Carolyn of Fayetteville, and her grandchildren Layne Smith, Brittany Parrish, Ken Smith, Jr., and Aubrey Smith.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
