Joyce Helen (Asselin) NeilsonLansingFormerly of Grand Blanc. Joyce Helen (Asselin) Neilson transitioned into glory November 2, 2016 at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family and the compassionate staff at Burcham Hills Center for Health and Rehabilitation. A mother, daughter, sister, aunt, gramma, Nana, friend and so much more to so many.Joyce was born on April 7, 1926 in Saginaw Michigan. She married John C. Neilson Jr. who predeceased her in 2000.  The Neilson family was raised in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Six sons followed by four daughters. Dennis (Cheryl), Darrel (Terri). Donald (Janet), Douglas (Barb), Jeff (Jolene), Scott (Julie), Marcy Carrigan (Bart), Mary Anne Hagan (Jim), Kathleen Shick-Brown (Fred), Amy Dawson (Kevin). In addition to Joyce's 10 Children she also loved and adored 35 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren on the way.Joyce was truly a magnificent woman who nurtured her family while developing dynamic children. Her strength and love will be missed but not forgotten. Her virtues will continue to be visible thru her children.Joyce moved to East Lansing approximately 1994 where she formed many friendships. She taught dance, knitting, art, enjoyed playing euchre and was an avid golfer.A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12th, at Holy Family Catholic Church 11804 S Saginaw St. in Grand Blanc, MI, 48439.A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, November 12th, at the Country Club of Lansing, 2200 Moores River Dr., Lansing, MI, 48911.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burcham Hills Fondation, 2700 Burcham Drive East Lansing, MI 48823.The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel. On line condolences may be made at www.greastlansing.com.
