MONROE, N.C. — Joseph Paul Hathcock, 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Jesse Helms Rehabilitation Center in Monroe.
He was born on June 25, 1927 in Rowan County.
Retired from the U.S. Navy and from the State of North Carolina, he loved his family and all of his grandchildren as they always brought a spark of happiness in his eyes when they would visit him.
Mr. Hathcock was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lenore McNeely Hathcock.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Julie Hathcock–Buffkin of Indian Trail; one son, Jerry Hathcock of Denver, North Carolina; four granddaughters, Sabrina Williams, Stephanie Watts, Samantha Williams and Anne Richardson; and six great-grandchildren, Brycen Williams, Nathanael Adcock, Katie and Mattie Watts and Trenton and Lylah Richardson.
A private celebration of life memorial will be held at a later date.
