Joseph H. Hicks, 84, died peacefully Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.He was born on Feb. 17, 1931, in New Haven, to William Oscar Hicks and Anna Mae Greenwell Hicks. He was a 1948 graduate of Holy Cross High School. He worked for Simpson Motor Company prior to joining the Air Force later that year. He served during the Korean War and was a lifelong member of the America Legion Post 121 in Bardstown. He spent a year at Bellarmine College and then worked for Jim Beam Distilling Company for 32 years.Joseph H. Hicks, also known as "Harold," is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret J. Hicks, of Bardstown, and their children, Shelly Cusick, of Clarksville, Tenn., Connie Royalty, of Louisville, Joseph H. Hicks II, of San Angelo, Texas, Mark Hicks, of Bardstown, Angela Billings, of Louisville, and Kristie Hicks Crenshaw, of Louisville, and also a son, Linwood Allsbrook, of Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; a brother, William Stanley (Barbara Ann Simpson), of Holy Cross; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Robert (CR) Hicks.The funeral was 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in St Thomas Cemetery, 870 St. Thomas Lane in Bardstown.
