Whitfield, Jon English,57, of South Louisville was born on June 28, 1959 in Elizabethtown, KY., and passed from this life on March 16, 2017. He was a retired driver for UPS, loved the outdoors where he enjoyed boating, and horse racing and was a big UK basketball fan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosina (Russell) Whitfield; a step son, Larry Wayne DeVore; and a brother, Jerry Alan Whitfield. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, the former Cheryl (Mills) Whitfield; his father, Jon Alan Whitfield; a step son, Scott Allen DeVore; brother, Matt Whitfield; and sisters, Suzanna Whitfield and Debbie Salinas. A service to celebrate Jon's life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday March 24, 2017 in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends from 2-8 pm on Wednesday and Thursday. Due to Cheryl's allergies to flowers, it was Jon's request that any expressions of sympathy either be made in the form of a green plant or a contribution to the Norton Cancer Institute.
