John Wayne Griffin, 77Murfreesboro - JOHN WAYNE GRIFFIN, age 77 of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017, at his home after an extended illness.Wayne was born on August 28, 1940, in Watertown, Tennessee but was raised in Cleveland, Tennessee. He resided in Murfreesboro for the past 45 years.He was preceded in death by parents, H.V. Griffin and Bessie Mae Patton Griffin; brother Hugh Vaughn Griffin Jr.; sister Glenda Griffin Williams.He survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sue Hancock Griffin of Murfreesboro; children, John Andrew "Andy" Griffin (Renee Dill) and Melissa "Missy" Griffin Trammell (Wayne McKee), both of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Lindsey Griffin Smith (Kyle), Jason Griffin (Haley White), Caitlin Trammell, Christin Trammell, Carleigh Trammell and Chloe Trammell all of Murfreesboro. His sister, Sherry Griffin Russell (Bill) of Duluth, Georgia and stepmother, Linda Griffin of Shelbyville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Wayne was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing games and telling funny stories about himself. His family meant so much to him. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and loved playing pool. Karaoke was one of his true enjoyments. He loved performing in front of a crowd with his friends. His most recent pleasure was playing bridge with the ladies. He served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1976. He was a retired insurance agent in Murfreesboro.Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 24th from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, October 25th at 11am with Pastor Ronnie Pittenger officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Feldhaus Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 2022 N. Main Street, Shelbyville, Tennessee 37160. Burial followed at Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville, Tennessee.Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
