Poole, John W.John W. Poole, age 70, of Appleton passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Sunday morning, April 30, 2017. He was born on March 1, 1947 in Wabash, Indiana, son of the late Maurice and Marie (Hiatt) Poole. John graduated from Wabash High School in 1965 and went on to the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country with two tours in Vietnam. On August 20, 1983 he married Jean A. Zuelsdorf at Doty Park in Neenah. Along with one daughter that John brought into their marriage, the couple was blessed with two more daughters, and 33 wonderful years. John was the owner of J & J Services and Sunrise Cleaners. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, and was a Tony Stewart fan; an avid Packers fan; he was a collector of knives and swords; enjoyed watching war films and Westerns; playing RISK on his computer; oldies music and classic rock; playing with his beloved cats: Oreo (aka Rascals) and Peaches; and above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.He will be sadly missed by his wife, Jean; his daughters: Lisa (Matthew) Maas, Menasha; Heather Poole, Appleton; Brooke (Toby) Jarvais, Appleton; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings: Jack Poole; June (Harold) Davis; Terry Poole; Barbara Poole; Edith Pierce; former wife, Jan Woodke; several nieces, nephews, and friends.Military Honors for John will be performed on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.
